It's reached a time where his energy is low, his outlook not so promising and his core weak.
A good mechanic can put him back together, but still he's getting old and need some rest.
The first snowfall of the Winter has covered him and melted. He has not moved. He has remained still.
No longer a worry about making it some distance.
No longer a worry about not making it some distance.
No longer smoking in the rain up hills.
No longer worrying about the wind knocking off side mirrors.
Sheldon is resting. Taking a break from this busy life. Taking time to just understand his place in the world.
Sheldon cannot be replaced, but he's resting.

Sheldon is Getting Older
Sheldon is getting older. He's about 15 years old and in car-life that's getting old. Now, there's a persistent sound, a persistent growl, a persistent comment on the process of driving. I check and double check and the specialists say, "He's fine. Everything is fine."
Sheldon is getting old. He's about had it with the driving all the time for long distances. He's ready to crap out and retire. The exhaust broken and he's ready to stop puffing smoke. I got it fixed (not dealer part), but there's still a lurking problem with exhaling.
Sheldon is getting old. He's about ready to stop accepting liquids. Overflowing liquids just leak out, creating the black stains of overpriced oil. I don't know why I decided to fill the tank so the required attendant topped it off. Sheldon rebelled, leaked all the extras out.
Sheldon is getting old. He's no longer interested in door handles for drivers. In his subtle way, he wants drivers to stop opening his door and getting into the driver seat. It was too cold for such an old soul.
Sheldon is getting old. He's just fed-up and wants some time to luxuriate in the warm weather without interruption. At least he got a replacement rim for the tire that has gone without for years. It's not enough. The dents are more pronounced and the inside fabric is starting to give up.
Sheldon is getting older, but like the mechanic says, "This car might out live us all!"
Past
Memory is a pecuilar thing and without it, it's tough to identify the past. The past is always something that replays itself in the form of dynamic movies. One can remember it and see the images, feel the feelings, experience it in one's head over and over and over and over again, but it still forever remains the past. As soon as something happens it has become the past. Life continue to move forward and what happened five minutes ago is no longer the present. Like this brief comment is now in the past.
Rice
Sunday, 11 January 2009 00:00
Cooking rice has come a long way.I remember when we use to pick rice, looking for paddy or non-rice objects from the rice fields, before washing and cooking. No one ever liked picking rice. It’s time-consuming and boring. But someone had to do it or no food would cook.Today, you can buy white rice in a bag, pre-picked and without foreign objects (mostly). Most people just throw the rice from the bag into the pot but I still do it the same way; it’s just a bit faster now.I still check for paddy and wash before cooking. It’s much faster than before.
